Canvas Youth Arts committee meet every wednesday 6 -9pm

CANVAS is a group of young people who help to choose and run different arts projects taking place at the Grainstore, DLR's Youth Arts Facility. CANVAS is officially the Grainstore’s Youth Arts Committee and they are actively involved in shaping and influencing the artistic life of the Grainstore.

All young people aged 13 – 25 are welcome to join. Meetings are held on Wednesdays nights from 6pm, followed by different arts activities, for example: music, circus, spoken word, guitar lessons, art, drama etc. They also organise music gigs and other events entirely run and performed by young people, and every summer there is the Battle of the Bands competition with the winners performing at Longitude.

This is what CANVAS members have told us about their experience here:

"Being youth-led means we are constantly evolving. Art allows for expression and a place to use our creativity and to evolve it."

"A youth arts centre can bring a whole group of young people together, where  we can show support for each other and work hard to try and achieve great things."

“I got valuable experience in all aspects of events. It gives amazing experience for jobs or cvs”

There is a role for everyone and a lovely friendly atmosphere,If you think you would like to be part of CANVAS feel free to drop in to the Grainstore any Wednesday from 6pm onward to meet the committee and hear more about what would be involved.
